Montgomery Chamber launches TechMGM, linking IT talent to jobs
The first group of classes for a Montgomery-area information technology training program will finish early next month, as 15 professionals will earn certification to work with military contractors.
TechMGM is a program of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Community College System and the local IT industry.
Classes began in early April, and a new slate of classes are scheduled to begin in July.
The program is intended to help Montgomery’s IT workforce pipeline, as numerous defense department contractors provide services to Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base.
The chamber and ACCS began working on the program about a year ago, and there were more applicants than available slots for the first set of classes. Participants will earn Security+ certification, one of the most frequently sought-after certifications for IT professionals.
